Athas 0.13.0 brings the editor into a more unified, flexible workbench. Settings now open as a workbench tab, main tabs are draggable, terminal panes integrate with the main surface, the Activity sidebar resizes live, and shared chrome is more consistent across editor, project, and tool views.

Workspace and project workflows are faster and more dependable. This release centralizes local and remote workspace lifecycle management, improves session restoration and file-provider behavior, adds project management and remote connection entry points to the switcher, and reduces resource use for inactive workspaces.

AI, agent, and review tools are substantially more capable. Agent integrations have been modernized with structured tool results, reliable session lifecycle handling, editor-selection context, and hunk-based Intelligence review. Built-in model catalogs now include Claude Fable 5.1 and Qwen 3.8 Flash, use current Mistral IDs, and default Anthropic chat to Claude Sonnet 5 while migrating saved selections.

Source Control, debugging, and navigation received focused upgrades. Review is now part of Source Control, repository and branch selection are unified, commit controls are clearer, debugger actions and breakpoints are easier to reach, Outline remains available for editor tabs, and file-tree folder arrows can be configured without compact folders being forced on.

Extensions and language tooling cover more real-world workflows. Extension views are responsive and more strongly typed, installs can be interrupted, Vercel and v0 integrations are externalized, database extension delivery is improved, Java workflows are complete, and managed runtime contracts are more consistent.

Platform polish and reliability extend across macOS, Linux, Windows, and the terminal. The release improves native macOS workspace integration, restores Linux file dialogs and keyboard support, fixes Vim ex commands and terminal tab shortcuts, stabilizes remote connections, and updates audited Rust networking, XML, and concurrency dependencies.

Settings feel more complete

We got rid of the bloat! Settings now feel closer to a real control center, but it's pretty simple to navigate it. Cleaner rows, better selectors, import and export, appearance controls, sidebar preferences, UI font sizing, and keybinding improvements that are easier to scan and edit.

Sticky folders

Filtering, row actions, git status, compact folders, visibility controls, drag targets, folder whitespace actions, and sticky parent folders make larger projects feel less noisy and faster to navigate.

Refined agent input

Skills now live inside the extensions system. Input is now much cleaner with new controls. Agent activity is folded into a calmer conversation flow instead of filling the screen with internal events.

Editor work feels steadier

We fixed a bunch of issues on editor. Selecting now feel better and intuitive.

What we fixed

Git feels calmer

fetch, push, and pull no longer freeze the editor while they run. The git actions menu always stays on screen, the gutter updates smoothly on Linux, and the pull request viewer works on older gh CLIs.

The editor stays out of your way

Inline edit has a proper toolbar and a rebindable Cmd+I. Shortcut chips everywhere in the app update the moment you change a keybinding. Pane fullscreen stops killing the terminal inside it, and the tab bar is there even when you've closed everything.

Terminal, less fussy

Profiles and shell selection, proper paste, ANSI codes out of tab titles, and Cmd+W focusing the right thing.

Small good things

Svelte highlighting. A rebuilt SQLite viewer. A warmer first-run onboarding and an in-app What's New tab after updates. Telemetry off by default. Signed Windows builds with SHA256 checksums alongside every release.

Syntax highlighting was silently broken in all production builds since v0.4.0. A security hardening change removed the CSP permission needed for WebAssembly, which prevented tree-sitter parsers from loading. This release restores it.
