# MongoDB

Connect to MongoDB, browse collections, and inspect documents from Athas.

MongoDB support is available through the MongoDB database provider.

## Connect to MongoDB

Install the MongoDB provider from **Integrations**, then use **Database: Connect to
Database** from the command palette or create a saved connection in **Settings > Database**.

The default MongoDB port is `27017`.

## What You Can Do

- Browse databases and collections
- Inspect documents
- Search and filter collection data where supported
- Edit documents where supported
- Copy result data when available

## Notes

MongoDB is document-based, so the viewer uses collections and documents instead of SQL tables and
rows.

## Troubleshooting

Check the host, port, authentication database and user permissions. Opening the connection does not grant access to every collection.
